There are two things to consider when you are choosing eyeshadow colors: your eye color and your skin tone . With the right eyeshadow color your eye color will stand out.

Another general guideline for eyeshadow is this: opposites enhance.

When choosing a dark contrasting color, there are many approaches. Here is one. Choose an accent color that is opposite of your own eye colour. The two colors side by side (your natural eye color and the eye shadow) intensify each other instead of competing.

This is where the colour wheel comes in handy.

Color Theory Colors on the other side of the color wheel make the best contrast colors.

Blue and green make the best contrast for brown.

Brown makes the best contrast for blue.

Now that you've chosen the right eyeshadow colors, you can achieve more intensity and drama by complimenting them with other makeup application techniques & products. Be sure to use:

1- liquid/gel eyeliner
2- mascara, mascara, mascara!!
3- false eyelashes
