FACIAL SCRUBS

Technically known as exfoliation, homemade facial scrubs are a simple method that whisk away dead cells from the surface of your skin. Homemade facial scrubs also encourages your skin to speed up cell production which means that the cells that reach the surface are younger and better-looking. Here's how to apply a scrub:

1. With a light touch, gently rub the facial scrub into damp skin in a circular motion and taking care to avoid the delicate skin around eyes.

2. Rinse off the facial scrub with splashes of warm water and pat dry your face using a soft towel.

1- EASIEST FACIAL SCRUB EVER!!:

1 tbs baking soda

1 tbs honey

1 tbs olive oil

Blend all ingredients well until you yield a thick paste. Smear all over clean face. If it does not spread easily (because the honey is on the thick side), add a little water to the mix. Rinse with warm water. As you do, feel the granules from the baking soda start working as you rinse off the residue completely.

2- EXFOLIATING FACIAL SCRUB: Make a scrub by mixing one teaspoon of rose oil with a quarter spoon of sea-salt. Massage onto skin for a few minutes. Rinse with warm water.

TIP: For best results, steam your face or soak in tub for 10-15 minutes before applying scrub. This loosens dead skin, making it easier for the dead skin cells to slough off.

3- BAKING SODA SCRUB: Combine equal parts baking soda and water in your hand and rub gently in a circular motion on your skin for 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse with warm water. This is great for loosening blackheads!

4- HONEY ALMOND FACIAL SCRUB:

8 whole unblanched almonds

2 Tablespoons rolled oats, uncooked

1 Tablespoon honey

2 teaspoons yogurt, sour cream or lightly beaten egg white

Process almonds and oats in a blender until they are finely ground. In a small bowl, mix ground almonds and oats, honey and yogurt until blended. Pat scrub on face and neck; leave it on for up to 10 minutes for extra softening. Wet your hands and massage gently to exfoliate. Rinse off. Makes enough for 1 scrub.

5- NATURAL BODY SCRUB: Mix 1/2 cup sugar and any cold pressed oil (olive / sunflower / peanut) enough to dampen the mixture. Mix the ingredients well. Use a light soaping before shower and then rinse. Gently massage the scrub all over the body. Repeat twice a

6- INVIGORATING COFFEE BODY SCRUB: Brew a fresh pot of coffee. Enjoy a cup, if you like. Put 3 tsp of coffee grounds (caffeinated) and 1 tsp salt in a small bowl. Use grounds within 20 minutes of brewing before oxidation occurs. Scrub mixture over entire body while in the shower. Rinse.
